			<description>I'm Italian and the Italian version of a mediterranean diet includes a fair amount of meat, poultry, pork, and cheese, all things that are fairly high in saturated fat. There is a presumption that fat and especially saturated fat is bad for you and that any diet that is good for you is due to the low fat component.

There have been several recent studies including one just published that showed that a low carb, high protein, high fat diet actually resulted in greater weight loss and a greater lowering of cholesterol than either a low fat or a mediterranean style diet.
