Upping fiber intake is good for heart health. Why? Filling up on foods that are rich in
soluble fiber like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, can lower LDL, or “bad” cholesterol levels. Fiber works like a sponge, binding to bile acid, a fat digestive that our bodies make from cholesterol. When fiber eliminates bile acid more cholesterol is converted into bile acid, then eliminated, and less cholesterol is circulating, lowering cholesterol levels.
How to up your fiber? Swap your pasta. Next time you want to make
penne alla vodka use whole wheat penne instead.
Add vegetables Try adding spinach, asparagus, broccoli and eggplant to your favorite recipes. Make a mental note to always include a green leafy side dish with whatever you are serving.
