Get Positive!

Written by Kathryn Savage

Stop worrying.

A positive attitude may not add years to you life, but it will add life to you years. Research suggests that a positive attitude can lower blood pressure and lower your cholesterol readings!

How to get happy?

Exercise regularly. Exercise releases endorphins which improves mood. Also, exercise is a fun way to achieve a goal. What I mean by this is, say you are in the middle of a 500 page book, you are swamped at work and you are trying to I don’t know, buy a house. Those are all big long term goals. Get out and run for half an hour. The feeling of setting your mind to a good-for-you goal that is immediate and achievable will improve your mood overall.

Believe in a higher power.

Studies suggest that people who pray and believe in a higher power live longer, more peaceful lives than people who don't. Put your faith in God, Allah, Tom Cruise, whoever, the simple act of keeping the faith might keep you calm, cool and collected.

Think of the glass as half full.

Here is a great quote by Mark Twain that perfectly captures the reason to get positive.

"I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened."

Most of the worrying we do is over personal fears like money, relationships and success. Nurture your loved one, nurture your passions, take care of your body and don't sweat the small stuff. I hear it's all small stuff.
