Burnt Out? Try These Rescue Remedies

One more cup of coffee in the morning. One more hour at work. One more story before bedtime. It all equals one less day spent walking, running and biking, or savoring a sunset and a glass of pinot noir. Whether it's stress, kids, work or finances, maybe it’s time to stop, take a minute for yourself and turn stress into serenity!


Here are five rescue remedies to save you from temporary burn out.



Take a nap.

Set aside twenty minutes for a power nap or an hour for a real dose of shut-eye. Sometimes all we need is a little rest to start feeling great again.

Take a walk.
If it’s sunny, all the better! Get a dose of vitamin D by taking a nice walk outside.

Drink a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice, or better yet, eat an orange.

Vitamin C is a great way to get an immune supportive dose of energy and fight environmental free radicals that may promote aging. When we get burnt out, our immune systems may weaken, making this an especially important time to load up on immune-supportive nutrients. Eating a fresh orange means you're getting a dose of vitamin C and a dose of fiber, easing digestion.

Pump up your protein.
Eat an egg. The omega-3 fatty acids are good for you and the protein may increase mental alertness and give your body a dose of energy, as well as a longer-lasting feeling of fullness.

Get a massage.
Go ahead, do it! Spoil yourself with a much-needed massage. The benefits of massage therapy are enormous! A massage promotes circulation and elimination of toxins from the muscle tissue. It promotes healthy joints and is a great way to relax. Relaxing may prevent chronic inflammation which may be a leading contributor to age-related diseases like arthritis, diabetes and heart disease.
