What Would Happen if Children Designed Their Own Neighborhood Park
Living inside the Iron Triangle (formed by a junction of 3 railroads) of Richmond, California, this under-resourced neighborhood has a 100% Black and Hispanic population and was once one of the most dangerous places to grow up in America. Working with the neighborhood, activist Toody Maher, had the children design their own safe park (Pogo Park) to come to.
In 2016, Blue Zones helped design and document a weekend tactical urbanism project to calm traffic and to inspire and build the Yellow Brick Road. The weekend event was a huge success, helping anchor $5.4M to build the Yellow Brick Road.
