Before engaging with Blue Zones, Brett served as President & CEO of Baptist Health, a network with over 200 locations and revenue exceeding $2 billion across Florida. During his tenure, he was recognized as one of Florida’s Most Influential Business Leaders (2020, 2021). Prior to that, he served as hospital President and Market President, at Texas Health Resources, a network with over 350 north Texas locations and revenue exceeding $6 billion.
A visionary advisor to HealthTech, MedTech, and BioPharma innovation companies, Brett collaborates with Stanford Medical School, Stanford d.School, and Stanford Health Care on emerging technologies, including generative AI applications in health systems. His previous advisory roles include Interim CEO, Operating Partner, Executive Chair and Board Member for Gauge Capital, Proeza Ventures, Healthcare Foundry and Tacoma Holdings among others.
Brett is widely regarded as a thought leader and has lectured at academic institutions and international industry conferences, ranging from ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago to the Global Health Summit in Brussels. He is a U.S. Marshall Memorial Leadership Fellow and an American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow.
Brett holds an MS in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University, where he is an Executive in Residence, and a BA in Business from Southwestern University. He is also a 2022 Distinguished Careers Institute Fellow at Stanford University and an alumnus of the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania. Brett and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters and a beagle named Buttercup.
