Join us for a discussion on how Blue Zones can help boost Marshall County’s triple bottom line: economic vibrancy, environmental quality, and public health!
Inspired by the world’s longest-lived cultures, Blue Zones helps communities live better longer by improving their environment. As part of the Readiness Assessment, the Marshall County Crossroads team is working with the Blue Zones Built Environment team on a structured exploration of our community with hopes to build a transformation plan by setting out a path to benefit from the triple bottom line. Research shows that creating more walkable, bike-friendly, and livable communities leads to many benefits. Simple improvements that make it easier for kids to walk to school, adults to bike to work or run errands, and seniors to access services and stay engaged in the community are the foundation for long-term gains.
During this session we’ll discuss issues such as creating safer streets for youth and seniors, planning and zoning strategies for economic development and a variety of housing types, and strengthening the multimodal network for recreation, access, and healthy lifestyle purposes. We want to understand where the community has been, where it wants to go, and how Blue Zones can help accelerate your success.
