Opportunity for Transformation
Petaluma River Park is under development and has been underutilized by the community, presenting an opportunity to activate this new public space. The project focused on using third-space design and programming to increase access to health-supportive activities, particularly for residents who face barriers to participation.
Key Project Activities
BZP Petaluma partnered with the Petaluma River Park Foundation to design and construct a semi-permanent exercise platform and gathering space within the park. In addition to the physical infrastructure, Blue Zones provided early-stage programming, instructor training, and financial support. Together, these elements established a scalable model for flexible public space activation that supports community health and wellbeing.

THE IMPACT OF BLUE ZONES
“They didn’t pursue health and longevity as if it were a chore. Their health and longevity stemmed from their surroundings.”
