Peninsula Health Care District (PHCD) is bringing together civic and community leaders to work with Blue Zones to make healthy choices easier and more accessible for all who visit and live in the Mid-Peninsula (including Foster City, San Mateo, Millbrae, Hillsborough, San Bruno, and Burlingame). Through community well-being enhancements, the partnership is working to set up citizens to live healthier, longer lives through prevention, empowerment, and community connection.

This partnership, led by PHCD, is working to advance a shared commitment to long-term health, resilience, and well-being for all generations in the Mid-Peninsula. By identifying gaps in resident nutrition, physical activity levels, and stress management, and by promoting policies that support longer, healthier lives, this partnership is advancing a culture of health and well-being across the region.

Blue Zones is the proven innovator for improving the well-being of large populations, with remarkable success in businesses, cities, and states across America.

In this phase, Blue Zones global experts are performing a Readiness Assessment, a structured exploration of the Mid-Peninsula. They are working with our local community health leaders and organizations to learn and assess the state of our well-being. Becoming a Blue Zones Community is a three-phase process, and the Readiness Assessment is the first step.
