The Third Place: El Gabilan Library in Salinas celebrates five-year anniversary

El Gabilan Library, Salinas’s flagship library, celebrates its 5th anniversary on March 1 with a community event featuring popular characters Bluey and Bingo, food trucks, a mariachi performance by YOSAL, and various family-friendly activities. Since its opening in 2020, the 21,000-square-foot facility has become a “quintessential third place,” offering extensive resources, meeting spaces, and programs. The library hosts over 200 community events annually, including collaborations with initiatives like the Blue Zones Project Monterey County, which conducts plant-based cooking demonstrations to promote healthy living.
