Miso is a fermented soy seasoning from Japan which is very high in protein and rich in vitamins and minerals rarely found in other foods. We suggest serving this dish with brown rice and steamed kale or wilted spinach.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup Miso
  • 1 container of firm or extra-firm tofu, pressed
  • 3 T rice vinegar
  • 3 T soy milk
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 T sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Green onion (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except oil and tofu in a food processor and blend, slowly adding the oil until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Cut the tofu into slices 1 inch thick and dip them into the mixture until coated, reserving some of the mixture.
  3. Lay the tofu on a baking sheet and broil for 10 minutes, then flip to the other side and coat with the remaining mixture.
  4. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
