Savory roasted chickpeas are great for a salty snack or salad topping, but what about when you’re craving something sweet? These sweet roasted chickpeas with kill your craving with a hint of sweetness and natural maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1 15-oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1-2 tsp coconut oil
  • 1-2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1-2 tsp sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • pinch of salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Drain and rinse chickpeas well. Lie out a clean kitchen towel or several layers of paper towels and pour the chickpeas out. Gently pat chickpeas until they are very dry.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the oil and spices. Add the chickpeas to the bowl and toss until evenly coated.
  4. Pour the chickpeas in an even layer onto a sheet pan with sides lined with foil.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
  6. Add maple syrup and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.
